Emmeloord, 16 February 2018. Potato cooperative Agrico has started construction work on a quality centre to monitor the quality and vitality of its potato varieties. This facility will be built on a plot on De Munt industrial zone in Emmeloord, close to the head office. The first pole was driven into the ground earlier this week.
Reliability and quality are top priorities at Agrico. Agrico is building a quality centre to improve the level of monitoring of its potato varieties. The centre will enable Agrico to perform inspections efficiently to obtain greater insight into the quality and, above all, vitality of its potatoes.
The quality centre will be equipped with climate chambers, where potatoes can be warmed for example. This allows the long-term quality of various varieties to be predicted. This information will help Agrico identify the right destination for each lot and contribute to guaranteeing the quality of the potatoes sold to customers. The centre will use the latest technology to register all relevant research data. This data will offer insight into the quality of all potatoes marketed by Agrico and will also be used to optimise the cultivation and storage methods.
The quality centre is expected to positively contribute to the quality and sales of Agrico products. Construction work on the centre is due for completion in autumn 2018.
